- Pour a small amount of hemp oil {or olive, castor, etc.} into a small bowl, and I like to add a few drops of tea tree oil, due to its effectiveness at killing bacteria.
- Swirl brush tips in the oil, and lay on a towel or counter nearby. If washing a sponge, dip it in the oil and work it into the sponge gently.
- Pick up one brush at a time, work the oil in some and then put a small amount of the cleanser of your choice on the brush, and gently swipe the brush across your palm {or I use a small pore cleansing pad I found at Sephora, shown in the picture above}
- You'll visibly see the makeup and dirt collected running out of the brush. Rinse the brush while gently wringing out the soap and oil.
- Do not aggressively scrub the brushes, or push back any of the fibers as this will cause damage.
- Lay each brush on a towel to dry, and that's it!
Super simple, but I've found that cleansing my brushes with oil first releases so much more of the buildup versus cleansing with just baby shampoo or any soap based cleanser, and it leaves your brushes incredibly soft and like new! If any of you try this method or have tried it in the past, I'd love to hear your experiences. I have a HUGE foundation comparison + demo video coming later this week to my YouTube channel, so be on the lookout for that. Until next time.
Stay beautiful.
