Vapour Beauty Review + Demo

Hello, all. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Today, I want to introduce you to a brand I have grown to love: Vapour Beauty. For first impressions, here is the company's ingredient pledge -
"Vapour is 100% natural. It contains 70% organic ingredients and 30% mineral pigments and essential oils. That is it. Vapour contains No toxic chemicals, No parabens, No phalates, No animal testing, No nano-particles, No irradiation."
The company clearly lists all ingredients in their products' descriptions, and they have an ingredient glossary which is even more detailed! For my vegan readers, they do explicitly say they use organic beeswax in their products. All products are non-comedogenic meaning they won't clog your pores, and the majority of their products come in super simple stick applicators that you can apply directly to the skin if desired. One thing I immediately loved about this brand, aside from the incredible ingredients, is that they directly sell & encourage you to purchase a sample kit {seen above} The kit is only $15, and you get to choose 5 products from their line: these samples last a while, definitely long enough for you to truly get a feel for the product. Plus, when you order samples, they send you a coupon code for $10 off your first purchase. Let's review the products I sampled!

Think Dirty

There are a TON of other green beauty bloggers out there, and everyone seems to love this amazing app, called Think Dirtyfound on both the App Store and Google Play! Its founder, Lily Tse, was influenced to take a closer look at the ingredients in products she (and we) use daily due to her family's history of cancer.

This app rates cosmetic and skincare products on a scale from 0 to 10, with 0 being the absolute cleanest a product can be, and 10 being, well, just plain dirty. The rating is based on levels of numerous toxins within products broken down into three categories: carcinogenic toxins, developmental & reproductive toxins, and allergies & immunotoxins. It is so informative, and a great app for anyone either beginning or furthering their transition to cleaner beauty! Read more to find out how the app works, and how to begin your transition to cleaner beauty.

A few of the many products I've rated since using the app!

100% Pure Products

One of the first natural makeup brands I stumbled across during my research was 100% pure. I was searching for organic beauty blogs, and one (unfortunately I can't remember who's blog) mentioned the 100% pure organic coffee bean eye cream. She gave it raving reviews, so I knew I had to check it out, and I discovered the brand also carried a huge line of cosmetics! I placed my first order late October, so I've been using the products for nearly two months now, and I have to say I'm impressed. So impressed that I purchased a few Christmas gifts from them for my mom to try! The company is based in California, and they guarantee that all of their products are "100% free of artificial colors, fragrances, synthetic chemical preservatives, and all other toxins" and are also 100% natural (meaning it contains at least 70% of organic ingredients) and completely cruelty free. Their website clearly labels all ingredients of each and every product.

The products above from left to right are the fruit pigmented lip and cheek tint (pink grapefruit glow), the long lasting concealer (white peach), the fruit pigmented healthy foundation (white peach), and the esteemed organic coffee bean caffeine eye cream. As you can see, they come in super cute packaging of recycled cardboard that you pop apart to reveal your products! Here are my opinions of these products:

The Beginning

Well, here goes nothing. My first post in the huge world of blogging.

First off, hello, I'm Holly. I'm 22 years old, and I began the journey into a greener lifestyle about three years ago. At the time, I began by researching and reading more about conventional food and what was actually in the products I ate every day. I quickly realized I was completely unaware of the amount of toxic chemicals, carcinogens, and hormone disruptors found within them. This led me to transition to a lifestyle in which my choices regarding what I put into my body drastically changed. I began (slowly) purchasing organic and/or non-GMO foods. It did not happen overnight, and trust me the prices can be a bit scary, but you'll discover a lot of products are around the same price (conventional vs. organic). I noticed a huge difference in my energy level when I began consuming more of an organic diet. I still don't eat organic 100% of the time, for my lifestyle and budget it isn't feasible, but I try to make at least 80% of my diet organic and/or non-GMO.

I feel healthier, I have more energy, my body seems to recover quickly, and so much more. I am not here to persuade anyone to eat a particular way, but I want every person who visits my blog to walk away curious. I want you to do your own research and decide for yourself if there are any changes you'd like to make. Personally, one of my hardest things to give up (I still struggle) was/is Starbucks.
